Being a Life Strategy Coach doesn’t mean I’m always on top of my game, completely balanced and without my own challenges. Building a website, writing an e-book, getting a newsletter off the ground and securing clients required a great deal of work and
commitment.

The past year has been filled with teleclasses, business design, creating, learning, coaching, relationship building and information gathering.

Every moment has been exciting and wonderful and has contributed to providing me with more wisdom, understanding, happiness, and a conscious knowing about what I am here to do and how to best accomplish that task.

Although the journey has been very rewarding, it has also been a little tiring.

When coaching clients in creating their ideal lives, I emphasize the importance of self-care. Life balance is fundamental to achieving success and enjoying the fruits of our labors.

I stress to my clients the importance of meditation, exercise, nutrition, and the necessity of having fun. What good is the reward if the journey has not been enjoyable?

It is so easy to give advice to others, but not always to ourselves.

Although I meditate regularly, eat well and exercise, I forgot how to have fun over the last several months. Fortunately, the first three practices carried me well up until now, but I was not feeling complete.

In a 1998 movie, Stella got her groove back by taking an adventurous vacation in Jamaica where she experienced a steamy romance which forced her to take an inventory of her life to find a balance between pleasure and responsibility.

Last night, I got my groove back.

For the first time in almost a year, my husband and I invited friends over to share a tasty dinner and lively entertainment.

We had so much fun, our company stayed for ten hours! During our visit, we played guitar, sang off key, acted like crazy teenagers and laughed so hard we had tears streaming down our faces and could barely breathe!

We acted like we were young kids again and it was absolutely freeing to behave without restraint. I cannot remember when I have laughed so hard in a very long time. It was like having a non-stop comic strip running live in our living room!

This experience was exactly what I needed to put everything back in order. This morning I woke up with more energy than I’ve had in a long time. I played piano (which I haven’t played in almost a year!), have been bouncing around the house all morning, singing and tidying up, and am overflowing with creative ideas. I feel like I just rolled the clock back ten years!

It is SO important to keep fun in our lives and yesterday provided the medicine I needed.

If you are feeling a little less energetic than usual or a little too significant about life and responsibility, do something that makes you feel like a kid again. Hop on your bike and go for a spin, slap on your roller blades and go for a skate, draw your favorite cartoon characters, call an old friend and do something out of the ordinary … whatever it is that allows you to roll back time, do it today!

We never lose our groove, we just tuck it away sometimes and forget we still have one! Do whatever it takes today to make you feel like a kid again. You will be glad you did!

Dad passed away years ago and Mom lives alone. She is still young and healthy, yet she always plays the victim. I am in my 30s and divorced.

Our relationship has always been based on a maternal dictatorship. Even as an adult daughter I cannot approach my mother because her idea of advice is an order. Since she makes life miserable, I withhold my personal life from her to the point of lying.

I met a wonderful man who lives out of town, and we have been cultivating a terrifically close relationship. Mom met him once, but only to the point of saying hello. Because I find sneaking around emotionally draining, I phoned Mom and confessed.

The reaction to this news was exactly as expected. Mom called me a tramp, a useless stupid person, and a terrible daughter not worthy of living. She suggested I get an operation on my eyes so I could see this man as the bum that he is.

Neither my friends nor I see what she is implying. He is well-versed, well- educated, with a great job and strong morals. Mom said if I continue with this man she is writing me out of her will. Our conversation ended with her hanging up after telling me to have a nice life.

Because I know deep down she means well, I am torn by her reaction. I feel guilty for hurting her, yet I am hesitant to put my life on hold because she does not approve of a man based on a 30 second conversation. Why do I feel like I am a terrible daughter? Her reaction puts a damper on an extremely exciting and happy time in my life. I am faced with a choice between two people I love dearly. Am I being selfish?

This man must make an excellent first impression because in 30 seconds your mother realized he would never tolerate her abuse. She also recognized he would never allow a woman he loved to be treated the way your mother treats you.

Everyone with a satisfying life makes one important discovery. There is a direction and flow to life, and that direction is toward growth, realization, and fulfillment. Without those things it is not possible to be happy.

I was married for 19 years before my recent divorce. I met a lovely man, a really lovely person. We dated twice, but unfortunately there is no chemistry there for me. I don’t feel sexually attracted to him, so there is no reason to continue seeing him.

Daryn, not every piece of music moves every person. Not everyone likes Shakespeare, and we don’t all have the same favorite color. This man may have a beautiful melody, but it is for someone else’s ears.

Be sweet, nice and complimentary to his personality, but be absolutely sure to let him know the relationship is not going to go where he wants. Viruses are another problem. You should ‘always’ keep your virus protection software running and up to date. These are usually configurable for auto-update capabilities. It is imperative you keep this running so it can protect you from malicious computer virus attacks. A slow computer is one thing; a computer that crashes is completely different.

If you tend to install and uninstall many programs, there is the chance that your computers hard drive is fragmented. Simply, the hard drive needs to search more when trying to piece together a file, etc. Hard drives do not store information sequentially. A file can be stored at many different locations throughout your hard drive and your computer works harder to find and put together the file you’re accessing. For windows users, you can click the start button (lower left corner) then select Accessories, then select System Tools. In this program grouping, you will find a utility called Disk Defragmenter.
Running this utility will tell you whether or not you even need to de-fragment your hard drive or not and if you do, there is a button to click to begin the process.

Before you get to worried or geek out to much, check your current broadband speed, clean up any spyware, protect yourself from viruses, clean any viruses found and check your disk space and fragmentation level to determine whether or not you need to de-fragment your hard drive.

These are just a few things that you can check. We’ve left out things like memory capacity, firewalls, proxies and modems.

Our intent was not to discuss each possibility, as there are many. Our intent was to point out a few basic things you could do yourself today.

If you see that your broadband connection itself is the culprit due to bad speed tests, contact your internet service provider (ISP).

If your broadband connection speed is fine, chances are the problem is with your computer. Follow the steps outlined above and test again.

If the problem persists you may need to upgrade your computer. However, before I would upgrade anything, I would first attempt to get more information from the internet, friends, family or someone knowledgeable to diagnosis the issue further. Running out and buying new equipment is fine if you can afford that. I think it’s better to identify the problem first. After all, it may be something easily fixed. Better yet, once you understand what it was and how it happened, it may be something you can guard against the next time.
